There are many social norms and taboos in American society. For example, in classrooms eating and drinking is a taboo. Smoking in a restaurant, playing music in a library or even talking while teacher is talking is a taboo!! All of the examples of taboos are ''breaking the code of the social norms''. `The definition of theme is a universal concept or idea explored by a work of art especially literature in the context of our class. A theme explored by playwright August Wilson's Fences was the age old conflict of father and son issues. Parents and there children always argue and disagree on things. Some parents want to choose the way there child  needs to be in there adult life.

I'm a junior in high school. I wanna talk about 3 books that I have read in my English 4 class. The first book that I'm gonna talk about is the Piano Lesson. This book was about a black family that has a piano that they had since the slave days. The piano was taken by a slave that was apart of there family. The books author was August Wilson. The piano was in the hands of Bernice the sister of Boy Willie. Boy Willie came from Mississppi to Pittsburgh to take the piano and sell it but Bernice wasn't gonna give it to him. Bernice believed that sutter's ghost was haunting her house but the ghost of the yellow dog scared him away. The second book was named Fences. The book Fences wasn't really the best of books, I couldnt really remember anything about the book so I can't tell you any infoormation.The last book we are reading is called Things Fall Apart. We just started reading this book but so far it is a good book. To end this blog, The english 4 class is great class for students to learn about different books.
